Josh looked at the record sleeve this morning and commented that “Of course, he had to use the “J” to distinguish him from all of the other Yngwie Malmsteens out there.”
I informed him that Yngwie is a derivative of “yngve”, which if I recall correctly, means “Master” in Swedish.
Josh: So his name is really just “Master Malmsteen?”
Me: Well, actually, it’s “Master J Malmsteen”. Not to be confused with other Master Malmsteens. Like Master P Malmsteen. Which would be the worst possible crossover EVER.
Josh: I think if you do some soul searching, you’ll find that last statement to be incredibly inaccurate.
Then Josh made rap noises over the instrumental track for about a minute.
